It's a silent and holy night at Mt. Alvernia for this Christmas Eve. Daddy is not staying in the hospital ward with Mummy. :( Mummy only has sleepy Cyrus for company. Cyrus came for feeding at night and fell asleep halfway while nursing. Hmm... he looks a bit yellowish.

Welcome Cyrus! Cyrus arrived on 23 Dec 2012, slightly after midnight. Here's the story behind his delivery...

Mummy was 39 Weeks 6 days pregnant and very tired. Went for my CTG with Dr Cheng but CTG didn't show much contractions, meaning Cyrus was not coming out anytime soon. However, Cyrus was already estimated to be 3.6kg. We decided that we'll induce Cyrus out as Mummy really didn't want to wait anymore. Mummy's main concern was that Cyrus would grow too big and Mummy wouldn't be able to push him out.
Dr Cheng did a check on my cervix and found out that it was still not open so he had to insert a pill to induce. We were told to admit ourselves into the hospital when contractions came or after 6 hours, whichever came first.
So for the rest of the afternoon, Mummy waited anxiously for pain to come but nothing really happened until around 5pm (5 hrs later). Started having some kind of pain but it was short and intense. Wasn't sure if that was contractions because during Celeste's time, the contractions felt different. Started off not intense but dull crampy feeling. This time was different. Nonetheless, we got ready to go for dinner before we admitted ourselves into the hospital. Decided to just eat at Mt. Alvernia in case I really cannot tahan. True and behold, I took a few bites of my Subway sandwich and felt like I couldn't eat anymore because the pain was getting stronger and more frequent!
Checked into the delivery ward and upon checking at around 7+pm, was told that I was 3cm dilated. Epidural was administered at that point (actually I felt that it was a bit early. Sure run out of epidural!)
At around 10pm, I was 5cm dilated and quite happy, thinking that I have quite a bit of time on hand without pain. Who knows, at 1030pm, the nurse came and checked that I was 7-8cm dilated! She inserted the catether and shortly after, I started feeling pain! Couldn't quite comprehend. Why is there pain?!!!! Not enough epidural? Told the nurse and she upped my epidural. Started shivering (violently and uncontrollably) after that. But at least, the pain was gone.
Unfortunately, the increase in dosage of epidural caused Cyrus to be in some distress. His heartbeat went all the way down from 100+ to 66. The machine recording his heartbeat beeped ominously and I knew something was wrong coz I was feeling dizzy myself. Could feel myself shutting down. Luckily, nurses came in immediately and gave me oxygen. Big breaths of oxygen made me feel better and Cyrus' heartbeat regulated to normal.
So we continued waiting until midnight. By midnight, all were ready to deliver Cyrus. BUT, Cyrus wasn't ready! He made us wait for a good 3-4minutes before contractions came and I had to push. I gave 3 pushes and out he came. :)
Celeste decorated the present for didi. I like the rainbow colours she pasted the most. Quite a gd idea! Hope didi likes the present-a blue cuddly seahorse. :)
Hope to see more of such scenes where Celeste reads independently. She was very interested in the books at the bookshop and asked for permission to sit on the floor to browse. :)
Haha Celeste is so excited about her new potty that she can't stop using it.
Yesterday night she wore pullups to zzz but did not wake up successfully to pee.
Tonight, she woke up herself at around 11plus (slept at 830pm) to tell me that she wanna pee but no pee came out.
Now at 1215am, she suddenly went to the potty herself to pee. The potty is next to her bed so very easy access.
Happy to see a first day progress. Might not always be successful but still it's the first step.

Just received a batch on online stuff I ordered during black Friday/cyber Monday promo.
Celeste is very happy to see that I've bought the musical potty for her. She's a bit old for it but we hope it can encourage her to wake up to pee in the middle of the night and stop wearing night diapers.
She's also elated to see new dresses. She couldn't wait to try them on. Think she likes this black one best. Was singing and requested that I video her down. She looks very pretty, doesn't she?
Last Thursday, I went for my regular checkup at Dr Cheng's clinic. Was delighted to see Didi again. He has grown a lot since the last visit. Almost a 500g weight gain, no thanks to the durians my family bought. I had already resisted eating a lot but Didi still put on weight. Surprisingly, although Didi put on weight, I lost weight instead. How odd.
When we entered the room, dr cheng was very friendly and casually mentioned that it was tie to give birth. I was a bit shocked that he said that but just laughed it away, saying that it was far too early. I was only 37 weeks 4 days then. I wasn't mentally prepared for Didi to appear anytime this week. Nonetheless, as we went thought the scan, dr cheng again mentioned the fact that I could deliver anytime NOW. That made me a little curious. Why did he keep repeating it? Then, he revealed that he was going to be overseas for a good long week or more. From Tuesday all the way to 21st dec, 2 days before my EDD. He suggested that I get induced during the weekend. Advantage would be that the delivery would be more controlled and we know exactly when Didi is appearing as we get to Choo the date and time. Although it sounded quite good, I was still apprehensive. 9th dec Sunday was the suggested date but it felt too soon. I was just not prepared. Nope. I need more time to digest all these. Anyway, dr cheng also mentioned that most likely I would give birth during the tie he is away so I'll definitely miss him.
I was rather upset at that time. Why didn't he tell us earlier? when I first knew that I was preggie and went to dr Lawrence Ang, he immediately told me that he couldn't take me coz he was going overseas. So when I went back to dr cheng, I also made sure that he wasn't going to be away the period I was due! I mean, it's ok if you're going overseas, just tell me. Even if it was a last minute plan. But I'm sure you don't inform your patients just a few days before leaving and suggest they give birth to their baby now and then right? So I was quite upset with what he said. Nevertheless there was nothing I could do.
Upon going home, I read up about inducing and googled on the gynae that would be replacing him. Luckily the names he gave me were quite reputable so that put my mind to ease. Inducing could be harmful to baby too so I didn't want to be put to that risk. In the end after much consideration we decided that Didi would be delivered as and when he wants to be delivered, regardless of whether dr cheng would be around or not.
So.... Didi, please choose a good date. Anytime from 20th to 23rd is good. ;)

Celeste n I had a good time during the morning gatecrash even though we didn't have much to do. However, I'm sure it's a good experience for her as she also made a new friend, Clarice.
During the night banquet, Celeste enjoyed the adult's meal more than her kid's meal. She indeed has an odd palate for a kid. :p
With the near arrival of didi, I've been reading up on how to take care of newborns. Realised that I've forgotten that I will need to swaddle didi. I've obviously forgotten how to swaddle a baby already. Wish it is as easy as wrapping Celeste up in my shawl. Haha. Isn't Celeste cute swaddled like this?
Celeste did quite a lot of work... she basically did the cupcake herself. I helped to measure the quantities required while she did the mixing and scooping of batter into the cupcake liners.
By the time we sent the cupcakes into the oven, her enthusiasm had winded and I did the making of frosting myself.
She came to help frost the cupcakes. Eka, our new maid, was a great help too. Unfortunately, the frosting tip wasn't very good and thus we couldn't achieve the star like frosting that I always see.
Still, it's taste that matters. The cupcake is very chocolatey and yummy! :)

Celeste finished the entire plate of Japanese curry rice with fried French beans all by herself! :) the food must be yummilicious. :)
Daddy indeed got his mum's good cooking skills. Hehe....
It's a not very sunny day, but not raining either. Celeste has been bugging us to go swimming so today is finally the day. But the water is oh so cold. Both daddy and daughter were hugging each other. Actually only daddy was hugging Celeste. Celeste is not afraid of cold at all!
Celeste saw this event on okto and constantly reminded us to bring her there. So how could we disappoint her?
She enjoyed playing the mini games, especially the hay search? Or maybe it was the milking cows game in which she exclaimed loudly after "milking" the cardboard cow," they put plain water inside you know? Not milk la.." Lol ;)
Wonder when we could have a chance to let her try milking a real cow. Hehe...
